Guys Just Don't Get It

It's funny to me how every so often, I'll wear an outfit that I absolutely love and feel great in, (and get tons of compliments from other women as well) but will just collect a mass of strange, confused looks from men. These outfits are what I have categorized as outfits that "guys just don't get."

Outfits that fall under the "Guys Just Don't Get" category, (GJDG) are as follows:

1.)boyfriend jeans
2.)babydoll tops
3.)high waisted shorts/pants  (I believe there is a petition going around stopping women from wearing these. Of course, this petition was started by a man. They would rather we show our midriffs, not cover them.)
4.)overalls
6.)jumpsuits (like this super cute one I'm wearing here by Mink Pink)
7.) harem pants (unless you actually belong to a harem.)
8.) basically anything baggy that covers our shape, unless of course, it was something of theirs like their shirt, in which case, that's an exception cuz that's sexy as hell if you ask anyone, man or woman.

Although of course being aesthetically pleasing to men isn't something we women are entirely opposed to being, I like to think that I dress for myself, and wear what I LIKE regardless of what anyone (male or female) else thinks.  Pleasing your man is important yes, but so is expressing yourself and who you are to the world.

Confidence is sexy, and that shows more than wearing a crop top or short skirt, and isn't diminished by anything that you might think covers you, like a baggy jumpsuit.

Really feel yourselves ladies, and it won't matter if you're wearing an outfit that "guys just don't get!"

All photos by Kelly Brooke.  When I was really feelin myself we tried to recreate Beyonce's "hold her pony pose," here but let's face it...even if I have the same amount of hours in the day as Beyonce does, I sure don't have the same amount of hair! Ha!  Back down to earth I go! LOL.  Follow Kelly on Instagram @kellybrookephoto or check out her photography site here.

"Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost"

Even though I refrain from calling myself a "hipster," I couldn't resist the term on this PROJECT SOCIAL Tee, "Gypster," which is a hybrid of both a gypsy and a hipster.  With this newly adapted term I may finally cop to the joys of drinking out of mason jars and admit my newfound appreciation for bearded men who wear flannel. (Hahaha... Charlie Hunnam doppelgängers need only apply! lol jk;)  But perhaps what I relate most to identifying myself as a "gypster" is not only being a free spirit that is constantly being moved by music, love and art, but having this nagging urge for WANDERLUST.  Yes, I always am on the go.  Having moved four times in the last couple years, I am always up for new experiences, locations, neighborhoods, sights, food, inspirations...you name it.

Though "wanderlust" primarily pertains to traveling, (which I plan on doing so much more in the future as well...#cantstopwontstop),  I've come to see it also as a constant need to just move forward.  As I learn more and more about myself, and continue to grow, certain things that have been a "home" per se, or a "fit" for me for so long, no longer is, and that is okay.   People come in and out of our lives for a reason, and once time with them or that purpose is fulfilled, that connection ends.  I think sometimes we have a hard time with outgrowing situations or even people, but once we start to look at it that way, the easier it is to see the big picture.  Life is one big journey...you just gotta enjoy every  destination  along the way, and keep moving forward.

These Booties Were Made For Walkin'

Lately when I've been feeling overwhelmed or if my energy is all over the place, I make myself go for a walk.  I'll hike Runyon, or walk along the beach, or heck, even just walk around my neighborhood.  Being outside just helps lift my mood and grounds my energy.

This backpack by Pamela V. is perfect to take along for walks, and it's fringey!

These booties by Matisse are FINALLY mine and they are so perfect to walk around the city.  They are so comfortable and stylish!

"And you? When will you begin that long journey into yourself?"
